Martin, Macedo win at WOO special at Fix It Forward Speedway

I don’t cover a lot of the national touring series while they are in the area, in large part because they have their own PR folks that cover them well, but with the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars less than 15 minutes from my house in West Fargo I figured what the heck.

There was a great crowd on hand at Fix It Forward Speedway in West Fargo for the Danny Schatz Memorial, following a big crowd at River Cities Speedway on Friday.  

Donny Schatz of Fargo is a 10-time WOO Sprint champion and remains a huge fan draw in this region.   His nieces, Amelia and Laela Eisenschenk of Fargo, were also racing in the WOO sprints this weekend, fitting in honor of their grandfather Danny, who passed away in 2022. Danny was Donny’s father and promoted the West Fargo track for a few years.

The INEX Legends were the support class and brought in a whopping 40 cars. Since there are many local drivers involved, I will start with that main event.

Ryan Braseth of Ulen and Talyn Neuman of Beaver Dam, Wis., had the front row of the INEX Legends feature on a very fast racetrack. Noah Madler was in third with Tye Wilke of Detroit Lakes and Preston Martin of Lincoln giving chase. Regan Reinke of Lisbon, the 2026 Sheyenne Speedway champion, was looking to challenge for a spot in the top five.

Braseth took advantage of Neuman sliding high to grab the lead.

Things went three-wide between Madler, Wilke and Braseth as they put on a show at the front.   Martin was the on the move, as he took over the second spot, and he got a good run out of turn two to take the lead with 17 to go. Reinke had climbed into the top five but was lo

There was contact when Neuman got into the bumper of Madler and went around in turn three to bring out the first yellow.  Madler would pull off with an issue under the yellow,  while Neuman, the early leader, was sent to the tail.

Martin led Wilke and Braseth and got a great restart and pulled away from both as the fight for second intensified  between Wilke, Braseth and Reinke.  Gage Madler was running in fifth as 33M of Colton Miller was pressuring him.

Martin built a one-second lead over Wilke with six to go as Reinke chased Braseth for second.  Madler  had settled into fifth.

It isn’t often an INEX Legend car drives away from Tye Wilke at Fix It Forward Speedway, but that’s exactly what Martin did, stretching the lead to almost two seconds by the checkered flag. Wilke was second, Braseth was third, Reinke fourth and Gage Madler fifth.

By the way, just a personal thought here. WOO officials announced at the pit meeting there would be no B main for the INEX Legends, which had 40 cars signed in. This was NOT a Fix It Forward Speedway call, it was made by WOO. To the 16 Legend cars who didn't get to run a B main -- I believe you got the shaft.

Bill Balog took the early lead of the WOO Sprint feature with Friday’s River Cities winner, Garet Williamson in second. Grand Forks driver Gage Pulkrabek settled into third with 41 Macedo in fourth and WOO point leader David Gravel in fifth.

Andy Pake of Felton spun coming out of turn four to bring out the first caution. Pake had a top five at West Fargo in a WOO a couple of years ago.

Schneider had a flat tire to bring out the second catuion. On the restart Macedo moved into third and Gravel into fourth as Pulkrabek dropped to fifth. Buddy Kofoid climbed to fifth around Pulkrabek.

Balog’s lead was about a half-sedcond on Williamson. Mark Dobmeier of Grand Forks was having a solid run in the ninth spot. Macedo passed Williamson for second on Lap 12 as the lead cars got into lapped traffic.

Macedo was flying on the bottom and took the lead with 20 to go and quickly pulled away.  

The race for second intensified as Williamson challenged Balog for the position. Those two had more than a second on fourth-place Gravel. With 15 to go Macedo’s lead stood at 1.5 seconds.

Williamson took over second on Lap 21 as Balog faced heat from Gravel. Kofoid was closing on Gravel as well as the top five was engaged in heavy lapped traffic. The lead shrunk to less than a second with seven to go but Macedo had cleared some lapped cars and started to pull away.

With a couple of lapped cars in between him and Williamson, Macedo could breath a little easier and finished strong with a 1.9 second win. Williamson was second, Balog third, Gravel fourth and Kofoid fifth.

Pulkrabek was the top local finisher, running a solid eighth.  Schatz started 17^th and finished 12^th while Dobmeier was 13^th.  Other notable local drivers included Pake (19^th), Brendan Mullen (20^th), and Laela Eisenschenk (21^st). Weston Olson of Warren and Tim Estenson of Fargo also made the show but were DNFs.

 Jamestown wins to Edwards, Stoppleworth, Weight, Greseth and Keller

Eric Edwards of Edgeley won the IMCA Modified feature Saturday night at Jamestown Speedway. Travis Tooley of Dickinson was second, Andrew Kapp of Jamestown was third, Quentin Kinzley of Bismarck was fourth and Jeremy Keller of Bismarck was fifth.

Lane Stoppleworth of Buchanan won the Bomber feature. Second was Travis Edinger of Jamestown, third was Dillon Thorpe of Ellendale, Joe Jacobson of Jamestown was fourth and Dustin Hinrichs of Carrington was fifth.

Brennon Weight of LaMoure won the Wissota Midwest Modified feature over Lucas Rodin of Marion. Matthew Duschererer of New Rockford was third, Jaren Wibstad of Jamestown fourth and Aaron Michel of Jamestown was fifth.

Cole Greseth of Harwood won another Wissota Street Stock feature with Tony Smith of Jamestown second. Dustin Erickson of Jamestown was third, Jodie Michaelsohn of Aberdeen was fourth and Bob Banish Jr. of Milnor was fifth.

Hailey Keller of Bismarck won the Junior Slingshot feature.

The INEX Legends had the night off with the WOO special at Fix It Forward Speedway. Jamestown wraps up its season on Sept. 26 and 27 with the 55th annual Jamestown Stampede.

Viking winners: Vogel, Rosch, Lange, Randt and Bitzan

Justin Vogel of Brooten won the Wissota Street Stock feature Saturday night at Viking Speedway in Alexandria. Levi Randt of Siren was second, Jim Gullikson of Nowthen was third, Eric Riley of Morris was fourth and Joe Martin of Willmar was fifth.

Bailey Rosch of Alexandria won the Wissota Super Stock feature with William Lund of Brandon taking second. Don Shaw of Ham Lake – who was inducted into the Viking Speedway Hall of Fame earlier in the evening – was third with Karter Reents of Glenwood was fourth and Trevor Saurer of Dalton was fifth.

William Lange of Staples won the Wissota Hornet feature over Chase Golliet of Fargo. Karter Kunz of Burtrum was third, Matt Dittman of Lake Lillian was fourth and Garrett Hanson of Alexandria was fifth.

Landyn Randt of Siren won the Wissota Midwest Modified main event with Tyler Bitzan of Brandon second. Travis Engebretson of Starbuck was third, Taylor Bitzan of Brandon fourth and Buzz Muzik of Brandon was fifth.

Dusty Bitzan of Evansville won his second Wissota Modified feature in as many nights. Brendan Blascyk of Hoffman was second, Bryce Borgen of Perley was third, Matt Thoennes of Alexandria fourth and Talan Thoennes of Nelson was fifth.

Viking will host a doubleheader on Sept. 5-6 to close the 2026 season.

--Joseph Thomas of Glyndon won the Wissota Modified feature Saturday night at Greenbush Race Park.  Jeremy Gust of Strathcona won the Wissota Street Stock feature with Doug VanMill of Bagley second.

--Adam Sobolik of Grand Forks won the Western Renegade Wingless Sprint feature Saturday night at Devils Lake Speedway. Jeremy Lizakowski of Vesleyville was second.  Greg Jose of Grand Forks won the Wissota Street Stock feature.

--Superman Mike Stearns of Aberdeen won the Wissota Modified feature Saturday night at Madison Speedway. Trevor Walsh of Watertown won the Gen X Late Model feature.
