Plenty of Tours Hitting RaceChaser-Area Tracks in 2021

There are a lot of special events at RaceChaser-area tracks in 2021. This includes several regional tours such as the Steffes Street Stock Tour, Rebel Midwest Modified Tour and the Advantage RV Modified Tour along the World of Outlaw Late Models and Sprints.

That’s not to mention the NLRA Late Models and NOSA Sprints.

Here are some highlights of events at RaceChaser-area tracks.

Steffes Street Stock Tour

May 28 — I-94 Sure Step Speedway, Fergus Falls

May 29 — Viking Speedway, Alexandria

May 30 — Viking Speedway

June 13 — Sheyenne Speedway, Lisbon, ND

June 18 — River Cities Speedway, Grand Forks

June 19 — Devils Lake Speedway

July 2 — River Cities Speedway

July 16. — I-94 Sure Step Speedway

July 17 — I-94 Sure Step Speedway

I-94 runs three Steffes Street Stock Tour events, including one on July 17 with the World of Outlaw Late Models. Viking runs a doubleheader on Memorial Day weekend while River Cities Speedway hosts two. Sheyenne and Devils Lake host one each.

I’m expecting good car counts for this tour in large part because of the scheduling, and how they’ve scheduled 3-4 nights in a row. Plus, the tour had a great following its first year and I expect that to continue. The racing last year was outstanding.

Rebel Midwest Modified Tour

June 4-5 — I-94 Sure Step Speedway

June 12 — Devils Lake Speedway or Viking Speedway

June 20 — Sheyenne Speedway

June 25 — River Cities Speedway

June 27 — River Cities Speedway

August 22 — Sheyenne Speedway ($5,000 to win finale)

Jamestown and Greenbush are tracks outside of the coverage area that also host.

Each night is at least $1,000 to win, plus there is a point fund sponsored by Shocker Hitch and long-time racer Bob Sagen.

I expect nights of at least 30 or 40 midwest modifieds at these stops, and it could pull some travelers, too. Should be great racing, and I credit Scott “Rebel” Bintz and Benji Froemke for their work on this.

Advantage RV Modified Tour

July 9 — I-94 Sure Step Speedway

July 10 — Viking Speedway

July 22 — Norman County Raceway, Ada

July 23 — River Cities Speedway

Aug. 13 — I-94 Sure Step Speedway

This tour returns in 2021 after a hiatus because of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. Tour director Rueben Meyer has done a great job with this tour over the years, and it’s attracted some top-notch drivers regularly like Dan Ebert, Dave Cain, Shane Sabraski, Mike Stearns and Jeremy Nelson, among others.

There are 14 races on the tour and five are in the RaceChaser area. I-94 hosts two, Viking, Norman County Raceway and River Cities Speedway each hold one.

I’m excited about all of the Advantage RV Tour stops locally, but in particular the July 22-25 swing that goes to Norman County Raceway, River Cities, Greenbush and Bemidji. NCR used to host this event years ago and usually had 40-plus cars. The mods always put on a good show at the bullring in Grand Forks, and Greenbush and Bemidji should benefit car-count wise from being a part of the four-night swing.

Structural Buildings Wissota Late Model Challenge Series

Just one stop in the RaceChaser area this year, and that’s at I-94 on June 25. It’s a good 18-race schedule, and I wish it was in the area more. The I-94 race should be an excellent program.

Further Notes

—The World of Outlaw Sprint Cars are in the area three times. That includes on June 4 at River Cities, Aug. 20 at River Cities and Aug. 21 at Red River Valley Speedway.

—The World of Outlaw Late Models are at River Cities Speedway on July 16 and I-94 on July 17 it would should be a great swing through the region. And a chance to see Ricky Weiss against the big guns.

—The Minnesota IMCA Sprint Car Series will be at Norman County Raceway on June 24 (as part of the county fair) and at Red River Valley Speedway the next night.
