Persistence pays off for Beyer in earning 1st feature win in nearly 9 years
Updated: Aug 13

It’s been said that persistence pays off, and that definitely applies for Jamestown driver Arin Beyer.
Beyer, who pilots the #4B Wissota Midwest Modified, won his first career feature on Aug. 19, 2017 at his home track, Jamestown Speedway. But it would be a while before his next feature victory. Like almost nine years.
Since 2024, he’s finished as runner-up six times in the feature at Jamestown.
“Lots of seconds,” Beyer said earlier this summer. “Just can’t get the job done.”
On July 25, he “got the job done” at Jamestown, winning the Wissota Midwest Modified feature. It was his second career win and first since 2017.
“It felt really good to be back in victory lane,” Beyer said. “It was a cool deal since my dad was around this time. Last time he was out of town and missed it. And my sisters were both in the stands. It was a cool deal having everyone there this time.”
The 32-year-old, who works for Dakota Engine Builders, owned by his father, is in his 11th year in a Wissota Midwest Modified and will be one of the competitors at the Jeff Carpenter Memorial at Jamestown on Saturday. He raced karts when he was a kid but saw an affordable opportunity to get into a B mod.
“I knew someone that had one for sale, so I got into it. It was cheap at the time,” Beyer said.
The 2017 win came against a quality field of drivers, including Kelly Hagel, Brennon Weight, Nate Reinke and Jim Morlock, who were in spots 2-5.
“I started in either the front or second row. I beat a lot of good guys,” Beyer said. “It was a good night.”
And while he remained competitive in the class – from 2022-25 he finished in the top ten in points at Jamestown each year and had 11 top five finishes in that span, the second win proved elusive.
With his duties at Dakota Engine Builders, it often means working on other racer’s engines – sometimes at the expense of his own time on the track.
“I should race more; some days I feel obligated to stay at the shop and get other people’s race stuff done and make sure everybody else is ready to go,” Beyer said. “It gets pretty busy on Thursdays and Fridays.”
Beyer had a solid year in 2025 with two top fives in 13 starts. But he missed a night for a trip and dropped out of points contention.
“Last year went pretty good,” Beyer said. “I was running second or third in the points, and I missed a night so we dropped back to like eighth. I’m always, second, third and fourth. I just need to go race and put in a year and see what I can do.”
After three DNFs in his first five starts, Beyer found his groove. In six starts since July 4, he has finished in the top four on five occasions, which includes a win and a pair of seconds.
“I redid the whole car, and I hated it,” Beyer said. “After Aberdeen I switched it to what I know and had last year, and I came back here and ran third…the car is good.”
Beyer is third in the points at Jamestown, just five behind second-place Jaren Wibstad and 13 behind leader Aaron Michel.
But the highlight is the win on Jully 25.
“It was good knowing I can still keep up with guys around here,” Beyer said. “Jamestown I feel has some of the best drivers around in a weekly deal and just being able to win once is a cool thing.”
His goal for the rest of the year?
“Stay consistent and not wreck a bunch of stuff,” Beyer said. “And keep the fun going.”
And while he is enjoying the success on the track, he is also having fun off of it each week.
“Most of the time it’s the atmosphere; we’ve got all of our buddies parked in a row,” Beyer said. “Everybody is willing to lend a hand. It’s just a good time.”
