Big Summers Ahead for Steffes Street Stock Tour and Rebel Midwest Mod Tour

tombergie01

Two tours that impact the local racing scene – the Steffes Street Stock Tour and the Rebel Midwest Modified Tour – announced their schedules on Monday night. And based on what I’ve seen, both have exciting summers ahead of them.

Both tours are presented by Shocker Hitch, owned by long-time racer Bob Sagen of Arthur.

Dirt Race Central will live stream each of the events which is a chance to catch the shows when they are out of your area. Ben Krutchen and the DRC crew do a fantastic job covering racing in our region.

Both tours will make several stops at RaceChaser-area tracks. One other item of note, the tours will often be at the same track on the same night – nine times this will take place. According to Benji Froemke, the director of both tours, most tracks will cut back on the number of regular classes run with larger car counts coming to down.

The Steffes Street Stock Tour, presented by Shocker Hitch, features 22 races at 17 different tracks.

I-94 Sure Step Speedway will host three Street Stock Tour events, with River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks and Viking Speedway in Alexandria each hosting two. The tour will race in four different states, capping off with a trip to historic Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis.

Most of the tracks were on the tour schedule previously. A new addition, and one I’m excited to see, is the tour stopping at Buffalo River Speedway near Glyndon.

As I’ve mentioned before, I believe this tour is a great thing for the street stock class. They are running for good purses, and a point fund, and also getting a chance to be the featured class at many of these tracks for that night.

And the racing has been outstanding, and it’s cool to see drivers from Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota race against each other in an on-Wissota 100 event. The street stocks put on a heck of a show on this tour.

Parker Anderson won the tour title in 2021 after Jonny Carter won the title in 2020. Both drivers have won national championships.

The Rebel Midwest Modified Tour has expanded to an 18-race schedule. Each race will be $1,000 to win, $100 to start for the Midwest modifieds.

The tour kicks off at I-94 Sure Step Speedway on June 3 with a weekend doubleheader. New tracks on the schedule include Norman County Raceway in Ada, Buffalo River Speedway, Brown County Speedway, Ogilvie Raceway, Granite City Motor Park, Miller Central Speedway and Casino Speedway.

I’m excited to see the tour hit Norman County Raceway and Buffalo River Speedway locally, in addition to the stops at I-94, Sheyenne, Devils Lake and River Cities. NCR runs Wissota Midwest Modifieds weekly with some quality drivers like Aaron Blacklance, Brock Gronwold and Reise Stenberg among the weekly competitors.

Lucas Rodin was the inaugural tour champion in 2021. He had a spectacular 2021 campaign which saw him win the Wissota national championship and the Wissota 100, along with ther Rebel Tour title.
