Adams Embraces Challenge of NOSA Sprint Competition

tombergie01

Jordan Adams is third in NOSA points this season.

Sprint car veterans Wade Nygaard and Mark Dobmeier have set the standard for the NOSA racing over the past 20 years. Between the two, there are more than 500 feature wins.

It means when both are racing a NOSA Sprint event, earning a win can be a daunting task for fellow drivers such as Jordan Adams of Reynolds, N.D.

By no means is Adams griping about facing drivers of that caliber — in fact he embraces the challenge.

“They push us to get a lot better,” Adams said. “It’s nice to have two really experienced drivers that are successful at other places besides here. You can learn a lot from them every night.”

Nygaard and Dobmeier are by no means the only competition in the class - Nick Omdahl, Chris Ranten, Jade Hastings and Austin Pierce are among the contenders locally.

Adams is in his seventh year in a NOSA 410 Sprint. He has two career wins — one in 2014 at Greenbush and one in 2017 at Jamestown. He has run well in the NOSA points in his career, finishing fourth in 2016 and 2018. This year, he is third in NOSA points and also third at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, where he trails Nick Omdahl by 23 points.

“We pride ourselves on being consistently around that top five,” Adams said. “You never know if the right night comes along, you’ll be in contention there for a win.”

This season, Adams, 23, has four top five finishes, with a best finish of second at Greenbush in early July.

Adams jumped right into a 410 sprint at age 16 in 2012.

“My dad and I, we always came to watch,” Adams said. “It was more of my dad’s dream to do it. He gave me that opportunity to do it. Everything fell into place, we bought our first car.”

Seven years later, he continues to progress against increasingly tough competition.

“It goes by really fast,” Adams said. “It’s hard to believe we’ve been racing seven years. The people we’ve met are awesome. The racing, it’s something like you’ll never experience.”
