The 2020 schedule for the Viking Speedway is set, and there is a good variety of events for fans at the half-mile oval located in Alexandria, Minn.
The season opener is scheduled for May 9. There are doubleheaders on both Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend. It'll be a busy summer.
Here are some highlights:
--Advantage RV Tour visits Viking on May 30. Dan Ebert of Lake Shore won this event at Viking in 2019. A strong 28-car field competed at the half-mile a year ago.
--The Steffes Wissota Street Stock tour visits Viking on June 6. The race is the annual Florian Sprinzel Memorial.
--A Wissota Late Model Special is set for June 20 which will be the only appearance of the class in 2020 at Viking. This should draw well as the Late Model Challenge Series will be at I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls the night before for the King of the Dirt. A good example of tracks working together on scheduling.
—The NOSA Sprint Cars will make an appearance at Viking Speedway on July 11. It will be interesting to see those 4/10 sprints roar around the half mile.
—Each regular weekly class will get a special. The mod and street stock specials have been listed. The Wissota Midwest Modified special is set for June 27, the Limited Late Model Special for July 25 and the Jerry Kluver Memorial Wissota Super Stock special is set for Aug. 8.
—NAPA Night is Aug. 15 with free admission to the grandstand.
—The Fallen Lineman Modified special is set for Sept. 5. Landon Atkinson won the $2,500 to win race last year.
